What We Found In the Cup

High-grown Arabica from the unlikeliest terrain—cultivated across scattered tribal farms, often at altitudes of 1000–1200m. These beans are sun-dried, hand-sorted, and low-intervention processed, resulting in remarkably clean profiles.

The coffees from Project Utkala are primarily composed of Arabica varietals such as S795 and Chandragiri, grown under semi-shaded canopies on red lateritic soils, which contribute to their acidity and balance. Harvesting is done manually, with selective picking to ensure uniform ripeness.

Coffee isn’t new to Odisha, but its story here has rarely been told.

From the Eastern Ghats, A New Story Brews

Tucked between the ancient hills of the Eastern Ghats and the wild winds of the coast, we found small plots of coffee quietly thriving. Grown by hands that never sought the spotlight. Places where cultivation wasn’t commerce—it was quiet resilience.

Project Utkala is our attempt to shine light on these overlooked origins. We’re here not to change the land, but to listen to it. To stand beside those growers, many of whom didn’t even know they were part of something special, and help shape a new chapter for coffee in Odisha.

More Than Just Microlots

Project Utkala isn't just about discovering coffee from Odisha. It's about celebrating micro-terroirs, where each lot is traceable to a group of smallholder tribal farmers. These microlots represent our commitment to quality and transparency at origin.

Each lot undergoes individual cupping, moisture testing, and sorting, and is profiled before release. Whether you're sourcing for filter, espresso, or experimental fermentation programs, our microlots offer clarity, character, and a direct farm-to-roaster trail.

Quantities are limited and released in seasonal drops. Discover them before they’re gone.
